Crypto Exchange Binance Hacked for $6.2 billion.

Today, the crypto exchange Binance was hacked and lost cryptocurrency assets worth $6.2 billion. According to a report in The New York Times, there is a possibility that hackers linked to North Korea were behind the attack. Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao said customers’ losses would be recovered as soon as possible. One theory of how the hack was carried out is that an engineer at Binance had their computer hacked, allowing easy access to steal the funds in question. As a result of the hack, several crypto-related stocks, such as Coinbase (another well-known crypto exchange) and Robinhood (an online brokerage firm), dropped sharply today. It is unclear what will happen next, but this is further evidence of the crypto industry’s insecurity.
